Properties:
Colorless transparent liquid with aromatic odor. The melting point is -50°C. Boiling point is 198-199°C (95°C /2.67kPa). Density is 1.055-1.056. Refractive index is 1.4143. It is slightly soluble in water and soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform and benzene. Ethyl malonate will produce malonic acid and ethanol in the reaction of acid and alkali.
Application:
It is mainly used in fine organic synthesis and manufacture replace acetic acid. And synthesis chloroquine, phenylbutazonein, barbital and other pharmaceuticals in pharmaceutical industry. Besides, it can also be used in pesticide, paint, spice and other industries.
